Law degree with honors from the Law School of Universidad de Costa Rica. Co-authored the academic graduation project titled: “Poder de Dirección y Control con Énfasis en Monitoreo y Vigilancia” [Power of Direction and Control with an Emphasis on Monitoring and Surveillance] which was passed with distinction by the evaluation committee. Jose Joaquin is a labor law specialist graduated from Universidad de Salamanca, Spain: and he also has a master’s degree in labor law and social security from Universidad Estatal a Distancia.
Jose Joaquin has worked for our Firm since 2005 and became partner in 2012.
He serves as professor of the Labor Law Course at Universidad de Costa Rica’s Law School. He has also served as labor law professor for undergraduate studies at Universidad Latina de Costa Rica, and for graduate studies of the Master’s degree of Labor Law and Social Security at Universidad Estatal a Distancia.
Chambers & Partners as recognized him as a prominent lawyer in Labor Law for Costa Rica since 2014 to date.
Jose Joaquin has been speaker in different seminars and congresses on labor topics, both locally and internationally. As an expert on labor topics, he is regularly consulted by different media outlets in Costa Rica.
In addition, he is responsible for the Immigration Law Department of BDS Asesores.
